Diving Excursions
The coast of the Cilento allows ever new beauties and natural treasures. Thus the gulf of Policastro unexpectedly opens into a large bay, with its peninsulas and land tongues, dipping joyously into the blue of the sea with its sharp, steep rocks and natural grottos, which can be discovered in every corner, in every crevice. Marina di Camerota extends on one of those promontories into the sea, almost as though it ruled this large and calm gulf. It is a foothill of Camerota, the center of Campania, which stands out from the surrounding banks. The name of the village, which is built out of vaults, might stem from the Greek "cammaraton".
Marina di Camerota offers today every comfort, and has therefore become a popular holiday destination.
The coast of the Cilento is one of the longest coasts of Italy and offers, apart from a splendid and intact sea (it did not obtain the "5 Vele" and the "Bandiera Blu d'Europa" for nothing), lovers of diving a great variety of excursions. In fact, the many local diving schools operate full-time in the spring-summer season, because the so-called "Costa del Mito" (mythic coast) always manifold opportunities for diving for beginners and advanced. It goes without saying that the dives are undertaken by highly trained, renowned and worldwide known associations (Naui, Padi, etc.).
For beginners, who want to explore this sport for the first time, the diving schools offer intensive courses of one week at low costs and with the issue of the official diving license, recognized by major diving clubs worldwide.
